Five Ways to Encourage Healthy Habits in Eat Move Win

Have you completed Eat Move Win with your high school students? 

Learn how one Southern California high school adapted content from each of the five online lessons in Eat Move Win into a “Shape Up” health fair—complete with five-food-group photo booth—to promote good nutrition and share the learning during National Nutrition Month®.

And if you haven't finished teaching Eat Move Win, there's still plenty of time between now and the end of the school year. Learn how you can get started today!

Not ready to commit to an entire online program? Encourage teens to use TeenBEAT—Basic Exercise + Activity Tracker—and kick-start healthier habits.

LA Trust Teams Up With Dairy Council of California to Help Teens

The Los Angeles Trust for Children's Health partnered with Dairy Council of California to develop new resources that empower teens to champion healthy eating and physical activity habits.

Educators and school wellness policy team members are encouraged to review and share the Nutrition Education + Promotion Guide to help student advisory groups lead nutrition efforts at school and within the community.

Health educators can also access the new Healthy Eating for Teens online portal. This mobile-friendly tool includes three tailored modules on topics like balanced meals and snacks, breakfast and
goal setting.

School Grants Available 
Healthy Children Enjoying Meal Out-of-School Time
Action for Healthy Kids offers School Breakfast Grants to pilot or expand school breakfast programs and Game On Grants to increase physical activity and nutrition initiatives. Apply by April 7 at ActionforHealthyKids.org/Grants or California applicants can contact Katia Ahmed at KAhmed@ActionForHealthyKids.org.

With more than 20 scientific studies now supporting the benefits of low-fat chocolate milk after a tough workout, many teams and athletes have adopted chocolate milk as their post-practice beverage of choice. By sharing their own success stories with chocolate milk, coaches of high school-age teams have a chance to win one of five $1,000 grants for their athletic programs in the BUILT WITH CHOCOLATE MILK Coaches Challenge!
